Through deceptive marketing and false claims of sustainability, greenwashing misleads consumers, investors, and the public, hampering the trust, ambition, and action needed to bring about global change and secure a sustainable planet.
As artists and institutions we don’t need to partake in sustainability campaigns, we can actually make a different in our practices to better reflect our environmental and ecological goals. My collaboration with PS21 started last spring with a residency in preparation for a performance next summer. This sculpture is part of our commitment to practicing transparency and accountability to better understand the impacts of our studio and performance projects and the opportunity to reduce them.
